Hello to all IWCs sailing fans:

Today, we pick up the Volvo Ocean Race in Capetown, South Africa. Here IWC’s own Azzam -helmed by the Abu Dhabi Racing Team- rejoins the group for the next leg of competition.

In days past, as ships left port, coins were thrown into the sea. This paid homage to Neptune, god of the seas, as a gesture for a safe voyage, because saying “good luck” was considered bad luck.

It is in that spirit that the whole team here in Schaffhausen toss a proverbial coin into the sea, in the form of a flag with personal messages. We wish the captain and crew of the Azzam a safe and prosperous forward journey.
